Reviews & Feedback
Course reviews on the Search Training marketplace are collected from verified learners after course completion. This page explains how the system works, what reviewers can include, how reviews are moderated, and how RTOs can respond.
How reviews work
Reviews are tied to a confirmed enrolment. Only learners who have completed or are currently enrolled in a course can leave a review for that course. This is enforced automatically — there is no way to leave a review without a verified enrolment record.
When a course is marked complete in the system, the learner receives an invitation to leave a review. Submitting a review is always optional. Learners who do not respond to the invitation are not prompted again after 14 days.
Who can review
Learners with a confirmed enrolment record for the course.
When
Invitation sent after the course is marked complete or on the last day of enrolment.
Edit window
Reviews can be edited within 24 hours of submission. After that they are locked.
What a review can include
- Star rating (required) — 1 to 5 stars for overall course experience.
- Written review (optional) — up to 500 characters of free text describing the learner’s experience. Longer submissions are truncated at display but stored in full.
- Category ratings (optional) — separate 1–5 ratings for trainer quality, materials, and scheduling flexibility, if the learner chooses to provide them.
- Photos (optional) — up to two images of course materials, the venue, or the credential itself. Images are moderated before publishing.
Reviews do not include the reviewer’s full name. Published reviews display first name and state of residence only (e.g. “James, VIC”) alongside the qualification completed.
Fairness & moderation
All submitted reviews pass through an automated filter before entering a manual moderation queue. Moderation decisions are made within two business days.
A review will be removed if it contains:
- Abusive, threatening, or discriminatory language directed at individuals.
- False statements of verifiable fact — for example, incorrectly claiming a course is not ASQA-registered when it is.
- Personal contact details or links to external websites.
- Content that is clearly spam or posted by someone who did not complete the course.
What moderation does not do
We do not remove reviews because they are negative, critical, or unflattering to the RTO. Low star ratings and critical written reviews are a legitimate part of the system. Moderation exists to protect reviewers and RTOs from abuse — not to manage sentiment.
RTO right to reply
RTOs can post a single public response to any review published on their listing. The response appears directly beneath the original review and is clearly labelled as coming from the training provider.
- 14-day window — responses must be submitted within 14 days of the review being published.
- 400 character limit — responses are capped to keep the exchange proportional.
- One response per review — RTOs cannot edit a response after submission or post a second one.
- Same moderation applies — RTO responses are moderated under the same policy as learner reviews.
RTOs are encouraged to use responses constructively — for example, to clarify a misunderstanding, outline an improvement made, or thank the reviewer. Responses that attack the learner or dispute factual matters without evidence are removed.
Complaints & escalation
Either party — the learner who submitted the review or the RTO it concerns — can raise a complaint about a published review or RTO response.
- 1
Flag the content
Use the "Report" link on the review or response. Include the reason and any supporting context.
- 2
Search Training reviews
The moderation team assesses the complaint against the review policy within 10 business days.
- 3
Outcome communicated
Both parties are notified of the outcome by email. The possible outcomes are: leave as-is, remove the content, or flag it as disputed.
Complaints that cannot be resolved through this process can be escalated to legal@trainingwallet.com.au. Search Training’s decision on content moderation is final.
